Message from the President

The State Hi/Lo Doubles Tournament was held in Borger May 31st.   I was pleased with the number of pitchers even though it was less than the first year’s Hi/Lo tournament in Buffalo.  Gas prices and graduation services in many of our communities (including Borger) had an effect on the turn out.  The Borger club did a fantastic job preparing for the Tournament……and the food was great!!  Especially the homemade ice cream & cobbler.

We are progressing with bringing the THPA web site back up to full speed.  We are fortunate to have very talented people helping with this project.  Danny Mason, will be working with us for the next few months to learn the website update process and to prepare guidelines for posting and retention of information to forward to the next Web Master.  We definitely want more than one person familiar with updating and working with the site in the future.

Sign up on line is available for all of the tournaments through the end of the year, the schedules and results are now being posted; articles and ads may also be posted in the news section.  You may send your information to Louise Alligood or Othana Donnell  until a Webmaster is selected.  (THPA is fortunate to have three members asking about the  Web Master position ….. the nice part is each of them have the knowledge and time!!)

NEW CLUB!!!!!.   Brownwood is establishing a club.  They have met with the city officials regarding courts.  The city and Chamber of Commerce are very  interested in getting more information and a site location for the courts.  Liberty Hill and Conroe are progressing on getting courts for their clubs.  In the not so distant future there will be three additional locations to attend tournaments.  YEA!!!!

The proposed amendments to the THPA By-Laws are printed in this issue. There are 19 amendments for the membership to read, study and vote on this year.  If you have any questions regarding the amendments, ask questions prior to voting.

This year we had a situation regarding proposed amendments that we have never had before. There were a number of amendments submitted that were in conflict with either NHPA By-Laws, existing THPA By-Laws, Robert’s Rule, or other proposed amendments that will not be presented to the membership.  I will be contacting each member that submitted amendments that were omitted.  If you submitted an amendment that was omitted and I have not spoken with you, please contact me at 806 790-8667. I would like to thank the Advisory/Rules Committee and the Officers for their dedication and time to review each amendment to determine if they would be submitted or omitted.

I encourage each of you to attend tournaments, enjoy the sport, and keep it simple and fun for all members!!!!  Hoping to see each of you at the tournaments.
